THE LITTLE GREY MEN

D.J. Watkins- Pitchford, better known as ""B.B."", has written and illustrated a fantasy in the Wind in the Willows tradition, -- a story in which gnomes, brothers and good companions, spend an eventful spring and summer among the small animals, the Woods and Stream people, of a peaceful English countryside. There's a certain charm -- a lilt to the telling -- but the whimsy is occasionally self conscious, and the cheerful philosophy and aged wisdom of the wee people never make it as real and lovable and clever as the inimitable Rat and Mole and their friends. However, it is many cuts above most in this category.
