MONTY: The Biography of a Marmalade Cat

Further reminiscences of life in Cornwall (A Gull on the Roof, P. 204 this year) this is concerned with the conversion of the author from a cat hater into the devoted chronicler of one of the breed. His bride Jeannie, a life time cat lover, insinuated Monty into their life during the bombings in London and the kitten's personality and early troubles did the trick. When they moved to Minack and developed their nursery garden Monty's experiences helped them in achieving the stability they sought; the gull, chaffinch and robin that coexisted with him provided interesting observations in tolerance while the dangers from owls, fox, traps and poisons demanded their careful vigilance. This is a gentle commemorative for a feline friend and its appeal is self evident.
