KIRKUS REVIEW

A plane is the hero of this ""story"" -- the Marauder, better known as B-26. Here is its history from drawing boards to skies over Europe, North Africa, the Pacific. After some false starts, the improvements in design and changes in techniques of flying made it the most successful plane in its field. It was used for torpedoing, for bombing rocket- launching sites, railroads, submarine pens, etc. During the invasion it was used for tactical defense of ground forces.
