KIRKUS REVIEW

The possessive love of Dessa for her younger sister, Laura, is the central theme of this novel of the West Riding country, with lots of family details as padding. Laura finally breaks away at the close, to marry the boy she loves, and Dessa faces her possessiveness. Not too meaty pickings from slim bones.
