Joyce, who has just left her husband and come to New York to get a job and an apartment in the Village, seems to be continually harassed by the woman who lives upstairs and keeps her constantly awake with her radio. Until she thinks of a revenge which will deflect the noise. However there are different disturbances before she goes upstairs to find her neighbor assaulted and mangled, before she begins to drink, before she loses her job, before. . . . Diana Ramsay is a very bright new writer (the lib rap sessions are great) and you'll find that this is an inextricably unnerving urban conte--the kind Margaret Millar used to tell when the walls had eyes, before they moved in.
