All the other dinosaurs fear the arrival of the tyrannosaurus. Three colorful dinosaurs, Stegg and Serra and Plod, are playing soccer when they hear the faraway “BOOM BOOM BOOM” that signals possible trouble. Purple Stegg says it’s Tyson the Terrible, who has horrible horns and evil eyes and gigantic jaws (all documented in the latest issue of Dinosaur Weekly). He spies the green creature in the distance through his “bin-rock-ulars.” When the dreaded dinosaur arrives, he’s a tiny beast, wailing and crying because nobody wants to play with him. The others approach and question him and, much relieved, ask him to join their soccer game. The tiny tyrannosaurus accepts, and asks if his brother can play too. The last page reveals a big pop-up surprise that young listeners just might anticipate. Brightly painted illustrations, in a spectrum of colors, add appeal. A bouncy little tale with a winning finale. (Picture book. 2-6)
