This is most elegant nonsense verse with a sort of Lewis Carroll swing, as in The Rhinoceros and the Oxpecker: ""Rhinoceros! Rhinoceros!"" an oxpecter said/I'm feeling very sleepy so you'll have to go to bed."" This is a long poem about a most driven beast under continuous onslaught from his nagging parasite bird. All the poems are accompanied by illustrations after the manner of the topnotch cartoonists, suggesting a lot with laughter in a few simple lines -- just as the poems do. These are easy to read out loud and beg for a touch of the ham in delivery. Each poem is accompanied by a rhymed moral that further tickles the point each makes. The collection is enough to keep adult readers willing to read them over again.
