KIRKUS REVIEW

Minor panoramas admissible only for those who want only the most cursory histories (some in two or three pages) of baseball, football, track and field, golf, boxing, tennis, basketball, bowling, skiing, skating, handball, volleyball, horse and car racing. There are some glaring omissions (deliberate?) like that of Cassius Clay from the boxing scene and the book is already outdated -- ""In its brief history, the A.F.L. has produced some very good quarterbacks but none whose achievements can match those named above (N.F.L.)"", There is, however, a set of statistical charts for each sport in the addenda.
