Candid descriptions of ball games, playing styles of team members, the routine of practice and warmups form the foundation from which the plot emerges. The Eagles have paid sixty thousand dollars for rookie pitcher Mike North. As catcher for the team, Ace Elwood's attempt to coordinate strategy with Mike is hampered by Clayton North, Mike's overprotective father. Ace is mistaken however in his accusation that daddy's grand stand signals influence Mike's game. Awakening to the harm of his father's interference, Mike is able to accept Ace's perceptive discovery of the clue to his pitching flaws, and the two become fast friends. Strictly for the male sport.
