KIRKUS REVIEW

Good basketball story for older boys (college level) this combines technical detail about the game with a fast moving story. Vard Ransom has transferred to a small college in the east from a large western university. He gets off on the wrong foot with Curt Robinett, one of the Basketball team, but before the end of the book becomes star player, wins friends, and is campus hero. It's not all easy sledding. He gets into lots of hot water. He tries to prevent a raid on a pre-game rally of a rival school, which his roommate plans, and an anonymous letter to the dean results in his being taken off the team. But he gets back for the big game- and victory. Competent- but nothing new.
