KIRKUS REVIEW

A collection of lyrics by a new poet with a sharply individual imprint, stark desolate, compressed -- with good effect. Her first group of poems, including the title poem, concerns today's ""rupture of a world"", bloodshed, poverty, hatred. Further poems deal with people, animals, New England scenes. In all there is a fatalistic awareness and acceptance of sorrow -- as an everpresent force. Distinctive -- with a faculty for the epigrammatic yet expressive turn of phrase.
