THE WHIRLY BIRD

The whirly bird earns his name only in the last moment of the story, for he is really the youngest member of a robin family. When he tries to fly too soon, he is terrifyingly separated from his world, but rescued, boxed and cared for by a tender little girl. A narrow escape from a menacing cat does not inhibit the baby bird's courage as he makes his attempts time and again to fly. With his final success, he becomes a celebrity, for unlike the slanting soar of a robin, this little bird flies vertically upward:- a whirly bird!
