KIRKUS REVIEW

A boy who was inherited his grandfather's love of hound dogs- and his feeling that ""a great dog is born when a certain man and a certain dog come together and a spark is struck""- tells the story of his Uncle Ovid and Algonquin. The dog becomes a winner in heats and trials, but a cough foretells a doom that takes Ovid as well.
