KIRKUS REVIEW

Elementary doings at the Tulip Festival held annually in Holland, Michigan. Gerril and Gerta, American children resplendent in Dutch costume, help old Uncle Klaas, maker of woode shoes, to win first prize at the Flower Show. These second-hand, very Americanized glimpses of Hollandia -- step washing, Klompes Dances, tulips, windmills, cheeses, may be useful in the tulip-and-windmill phase of elementary school work, but the illustrations by the author are garish and badly drawn. Third year reading.
