THE TRICK-OR-TREAT TRAP by Dirk Zimmer

THE TRICK-OR-TREAT TRAP

Three costumed kids-the narrator, Peggy Pig, and the BEM ""(that's short for Bug-Eyed Monster)""--are trick-or-treating when a trapdoor on a front porch drops them into another dimension. . . or so they conclude. To summarize the subsequent events would merely be to repeat the story, for the whole experience is just a pellmell tumble of ghosts, witches, goblins, skeletons, chases, flights, grunts, growls, and more trapdoors. At last the three end up at a Halloween party inside the house and realize that it's all been part of a Halloween trick. As a real trick it would be a corker, and Zimmer's drawings could serve a regulation funny-scary Halloween story; but this is neither funny nor scary--just busy, like a speeded-up TV cartoon.
