When early on within three pages you find both a house, in Louisiana, and hair described as spun-sugar, you know you're in for. . . spun sugar as Pocket, a spinster (and was she an orphan) goes to visit her sister Rye, very pregnant, whose husband's grave is being desecrated, while their aunt (or is she just Rye's) seems to have changed and is terrified of just what? For the girls, easy on the eyes and ever so gentle on the mind.
