In a California coastal town, a letter to the police-admitting to the murder of three youngsters (which had been considered accidental deaths) and threatening a fourth alerts a tense investigation by detective Archer as he tries to find some common connection. A very young couple's romance which meets with parental disapproval, as well as the vindictive vigilance of the obsessional killer is salvaged, and another teen ager, suspecting what has happened, escapes as well. A sure handling of a surely susceptible area of suspense.
