A leading Catholic theologian has given us in this volume a series of interpretations of the twelve minor prophets of the Old Testament. They are known to most readers as Kosea, Joel, Amos, Obadish, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, and Malachi. The author, however, uses the spelling of the Bible which will be confusing to some readers as Obadish is called Abdiah and Zephaniah, Sophonias. This book is not written for Bible scholars but for lay readers. In the effort to make these Old Testament figures come alive Dom van Zeller has frankly resorted to speculation to supplement the meagre information the Bible contains concerning them. Thus does he endeavor to bring out what he considers to be the real spiritual content of each book. Many Biblical scholars will find themselves in disagreement with these expositions and interpretations at many points. However, they are well written and Catholic readers will find them helpful.
