First, ``My old Teddy's leg came off,'' and the ``Teddy doctor'' (mother) ``made Teddy better.'' An arm, an ear—each time Mother, interrupted in a household task, is ready to help, but after she sews Teddy's head back on, she decrees that ``Teddy has to rest'' and supplies a new model. The new Teddy may be better for the pictured rough play; still, ``I love poor old Teddy best.'' The very simple repetitive text is accompanied by expressive cartoon-style illustrations. An appealing true-to-life vignette. (Picture book. 1-5)
