A ""summary- deliberately so"" prepared by Staff Members of the Southern Education Reporting Service based on material from the Southern School News reports on ""the south's own civil war"" following the Supreme Court decision of 1954. This then is a documentation of the acts and attitudes which followed the desegregation of the schools, the political, social, legislative reverberations- in the cities, in the Deepest South, in the fringe areas, in Washington; the incidents of resistance and violence; the effects in the colleges as well as the schools; the pressure groups which were formed and flared; etc., etc. It offers an excellent documentation of the issue and the actuality of segregation and integration for study, use and reference, rather than the general readership of say John Martin's The Deep South Says Never (Ballantine).
