KIRKUS REVIEW

A book which should appeal to all philosophically minded sportsmen, whether with gun or rod. Although the book contains some practical suggestions for novice or expert, its greatest value lies in the message lit brings to genuine anglers and hunters. Haines wrote the book to make hunting and fishing an adventure which never stales. of unfailing enjoyment. It is the by-products of the sport, rather than the kill or the poundage, which make it so interesting. One's enjoyment starts many months and many hours before one gets to the stream or the field, and it continues throughout the whole trip and for a long period after.
