Although as Dr. Chapman says this is only a token of larger areas of discomfort and distress. Under archetypical tags (sometimes unfortunate in this context since Dr. Chapman is quite serious -- viz. The Tit for Tat or The Deadly Push) he uses a great many case histories from his practice to illustrate basic patterns-problems of personality in situations involving marriage, courtship, adultery, homosexuality, etc. etc. Not as post-Berne-ian a presentation as the earlier book -- just straightforward psychiatry applied to the way some people live, wretchedly.
