A story of hunger, courage and terror is set in Rome in 1944 at the end of the German occupation. The central characters, Italian anti-Fascists, have eaten every thing within sight including their household pets. But when a wedding is planned an old Italian stone mason sacrifices thirty-six American signal corps pigeons to which he has been assigned. In order to make amends for this crime he steals alike number of German pigeons who have been used for intelligence work and from that moment on the confusion and excitement is indescribable. An original story, Easter Dinner is lively and consistently effective.
