NUTCRACRACKER OF NUREMBURG

American children (and adults) are not familiar with the story which inspired Tschaikowsky's Nutcracker suite, so this version of it should fill a real need. It reads as a fairy tale, woven into the story of the Christmas gift of a puppet and a puppet theatre. Should stand on its own merits as a charming story, with the added value of the tie up with the music. The occasional use of a metrical form is unfortunate.
