Given the job of hauling a rocket from the west coast to a naval base in Virginia, long time trucker Bruce Cabot invites his young nephew to partake in the task. Little did Uncle Bruce anticipate the problems involved in guarding a rocket and transporting it safely. From the western deserts, through Texas and the South, the truck rambles its way with its precious cargo. The routine of sleeping and eating on the road is offset by the breakdowns that occur along the way. Could these delays be accidental? Their suspicions are crystallized and sabotage appears to be the ugly answer. How Mike helps his uncle pinpoint the guilty, call in the FBT and accomplish the mission successfully may captivate boys who would rather not question the realism of what they read.
