KIRKUS REVIEW

Clean as a whistle Encyclopedia solves the mysteries of the worn out phrases, the skunk ape, the exploding toilet, the salami sandwich. . . you name it, he solves it. His sidekick, Sally—"the prettiest girl in the fifth grade"—can now outpunch Bugs Measly and, on occasion; out-deduce Encyclopedia, but his is still basically a boy's world. In fact Encyclopedia may well be the preeminent boy rap artist of our time, and as for the cases. . . the "'most hair-raising experience since I pulled off my turtleneck sweater,' he joked weakly." And proof that he's got a lot on the ball, we add roundly.
