RAVEN SETTLES A SCORE

When Canadian burglar Roderic Campbell breaks into the Korean Embassy in London, he finds a safe full of heroin, is caught in the act, and escapes--with a notebook of Korean jottings. Pursued by the Koreans and Scotland Yard, he turns for guidance to his former nemesis, ex-Scotland-Yarder John Raven. Middle-aging Raven, yearning for action on his houseboat, is happy to oblige--especially when he has the notebook translated (an assist from charming Jerry Soo) and sees that it contains evidence of bribe-taking by George Drake, the Scotland Yard bigwig whom Raven blames for his state of unemployment. Thus, in short order: a rescue of Campbell's kidnapped girl, a relentless tracking of the soon-fleeing Drake, and a Raven-style encounter with Scotland Yard's pompous Commissioner: ""You're one of the most insufferable pricks I've ever met. Good night."" Busy but highly controlled--the best Raven flight yet.
