COOL SLEEPS BALABAN

An old hand, light fingered as ever, traces the attempt- by two young men, one a professional, one -- his cousin- an amateur, to rob the safe of a jeweler Balaban. But in order to get the keys, they must kidnap Balaban and his secretary, Caroline Woodall, whom one of them, Craig Usher, had known more intimately. During the procedure Balaban dies and Usher buries him, but there's still the question of Caroline's disposition or release. One of this writer's best, and very good of its kind.
