KIRKUS REVIEW

A practical, authentic, appealing collection that should take its place in the piano bench as well as on library shelves beside the Bertail Complete Book of Nursery Songs. Published in England as The Faber Book of Nursery Songs, it features approximately seventy-five familiar Mother Goose rhymes and other favorites, as per the Opies' versions. The arrangements are simple enough for the occasional pianist (who will appreciate the repeated use of the same accompanimental patterns); if he is a teacher, he will find the appended part for speech or unpitched or pitched percussion useful too. Adequate line drawings appear throughout, and there are a few full-page color plates as a come-on. All crisply and spaciously printed--comfortable for the home, convenient for groups.
