Algiers, and the soiled glamor of the Casbah, for an indulgence in physical and violence and the drama of four lives caught up in a simmering Arab revolt. There's Blair Hansen, who comes back to Algiers on a business deal, quickly takes up an old affair with Marl Landor whom he'd arrested once during the war for pro-Fascist activities, Celesta, Marl's daughter, twenty, in love with an Arab boy who aligns her sympathies with his people; George, the Arab, poor but proud. Mari's vigilance over Celeste falls when Celeste uses an American to cover for George; Hansen, after a scuffle in the , kills a Security officer, escapes with George and Celeste; Mari, attempting to save Hansen's life, loses hers, and Hansen too in the end chooses to die fighting...
