A companion volume to Shrubs and Vines for American Gardens (1949), this again is a practical guide to the best types of trees currently available. There are 750 recommended species and varieties and a secondary list of 1600 which are either inferior or no better, and the general coverage covers hardiness (with a map), order of bloom, ornamental fruits, foliage color, trees for various purposes, for street and highway planting, one hundred tree champions, dwarf trees. Color, fragrance, height and shape, large and small properties, seasonal and geographical questions, etc., are all given consideration.
