MS GLEE WAS WAITING

Laura was late and Ms Glee was waiting, so Laura put on her roller skates [turn the page] but a skate strap broke so she brought out her wagon [turn again] but a wheel came loose"". . . and so on through a flat bike tire, a cab out of gas, a derailed train, and a variously discombobulated bus, tugboat, balloon, litter, gondola, jinriksha, howdah, and finally Laura's own two feet, until she develops a blister. ""That is why Laura never did get to Ms Glee's piano lesson. [turn] So she said""--but Ms Glee, holding the telephone in the final picture, has a skeptical look on her face. A piffling idea stylishly ehborated, and illustrated with scratchy, agitated street scenes that show you lots, lots more going on--but only, alas, if you are undeterred by their magenta color scheme and general grubby appearance.
