THE SUMMERFOLK by Doris Burn

THE SUMMERFOLK

A fey assortment of apparitions (costumed visitors? day-dream visions?) convinces islander Willie Potts that not all summerfolk are a nuisance. The improbable props and the unfloatable flotilla make it unlikely that they're real; the outre dialogue and diet (e.g. mint tea, wafers, truffles and tarts) attributed to them make it unlikely that Willie dreamed them up. Whimsy adrift, despite sharp drawings.
