START YOUR OWN BUSINESS ON LESS THAN $1,000

Publisher: McGraw-Hill

Polly Webster, who did last year's How To Make Money At Home, co-authors here in a book which combines sound precepts for all small enterprises with some suggestions of the ways in which you can apply them. The opening section takes up bookkeeping and accounting, credit- when and how much, cost-control records, tax returns, location and equipment, buying and selling, advertising and insurance. There follows some idea material on your own shop or store (anything from food to clothes to laundries, photography to plastics, dogs to upholstery); on service businesses (housecleaning, catering, repairs, extermination, advertising, etc.) and a final section on miscellaneous businesses. Once again the range is wide, the suggestions many and illustrated with actual examples to substantiate your initiative and incentive.
