KIRKUS REVIEW

In a Connecticut small town, Mr. Gaudette, the roomer of the Misses Wheeler, sisters on non-speaking terms for thirty years, retires but disappears before he reaches his destination in Vermont. His possible whereabouts cause considerable conjecture not only for the police but for young Jed next door, a small boy whose snub-nosed nosiness almost leads to a second mishap... The crime itself has a low blood pressure for this is, as before, a very homey kind of homicide.
