KIRKUS REVIEW

Ranks high in idea as well as execution- this story of a nice, normal family trying to hide a crime. Uncle Joe is accidentally killed in a quarrel at a family picnic and his relatives, rather than face the scandal and disgrace, bury him there, plot their course and their stories. But Uncle Joe's insurance policy trips them up and the special investigator, convinced of the family's implication in the matter, pieces together what must have happened, tells them off. Very neat.
