TELL ME MR. OWL

Little Boy's Hallowe'en guide is Mister Owl -- who lives in the big sycamore at the end of the street. Little Boy listens for things that go ""bump in the night"". And Mister Owl points out Fraidy Cat, Silly Miss Nilly (dressed for Halloween in too-big high heels and jingle-jangle-bracelets), High Joe, a small boy on tall stilts, and the Weenky Days, neighborhood children trick-or-treating and dancing around a pumpkin. Pseuto-scary thematic treatment of Hallowe'en with no real story line. Helen Stone's illustrations are in color -- not beautiful, but seasonal and spooky. Of interest around the holidays only.
