KIRKUS REVIEW

Starting with the not wholly fresh premise that ""life is a pilgrimage,"" the author advances the claim that the ""finest and most satisfying way to live and believe stems from New Testament Christianity."" This small book deals with the pilgrimage, its certainties, challenges and consummation. Although it is offered as ""Biblical patterns for effective living,"" the reader may be surprised by some of the contradictions made by the author (he is a pastor of the Hunter Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama) and the record of the Bible itself. A certain traditional, not to say, naive religiousness will be required of the reader who finds help here.
