KIRKUS REVIEW

There is familiar detail in this pleasant mother and daughter companionship, as young Judy learns patience, courage and adaptability in the face of a ""dark summer"" when a sunburned retina threatens the loss of an eye. Stringent prohibitions are however compensated when she plays a part in the rehabilitation of a veteran, is taught how to touch-type, and wins the reward of recovery. Not oversweet in the lessons learned, this is good fare.
