Each year a well-known and significant person is asked to give one of the Garvin lectures at the Huttarian Church of Our Father at Lancaster, Penna. Here are published those given during the past ten years on the general subject of God and Immortality. Julius S Bixler writes on ""The Relevance of Reason"", Gerald Heard on ""Death and Consciousness"". Harry Emerson Fosdick on ""Old and New Ideas of God"", Margaret Mead on ""Differing Concepts of Immortality"", Paul Tillich on ""The Idea of God as Affected by Modern Knowledge"", Gerald Kennedy on ""The Immortality of Man"", Sidney Hook on ""Conflicting Concepts of God"", C. J. Ducasse on ""Life After Death Conceived as Reincarnation"", and Abraham A. Newman on ""A Jewish Viewpoint"". Anyone familiar with other writings of these contributors could almost predict what they have said here. They present widely diverse points of view, without enough room allowed to permit a careful or extensive enough presentation to be of much value to the general reader. As lectures they had a limited appeal; as a collective contribution to learning in this challenging field not much of lasting significance has been added.
