GARDEN GOSSIP

There are many people who feel Dorothy Biddle's little book on flower arrangements is unique in its line and these and many more will place Garden Gossip in a class by itself. For sheer entertainment, practical information and suggestiveness it rates 100%, and for title -- well, genius can't be reckoned in percentage, but it is just the sort of gossip that brings a smile to the eyes and warms the cockles of a true gardener's heart. Whatever his garden, it is in this book; enchanting cuts illustrated each chapter and prove equally devastating. Miss G's garden is of special interest because of the zinnia information which makes rather prosaic flowers glow and burn with a pleasant ardour of warm color actually stirring an interest in her many varieties, while we beg for Mrs. B's address to order King's College marmalade, it so takes us back to Cambridge and teas in a punt. Mrs. R. with her soot ashes and roses is another nice English touch. A worthwhile gift book as well as grand reading for the not too serious gardener.
