KIRKUS REVIEW

Of the three books in this category, The Animal Book, Farm Animals and Barnyard Family, which deals with the young, I think this seems somehow better integrated, and less encyclopedic in both inclusions and presentations. It comes closest to universal child interest, in the selection of colts, calves, lambs, kids, little pigs, puppies, kittens, little rabbits. Younger in appeal, but with plenty of valuable basic information for the inquiring child, and never written down to a lower level. Nils Hogner pictures are factually sound and decorative as well.
