THE BIBLE STORY

This book is a successful combination of selection (the old favorites in chronological order so that the pattern of Old Testament and New Testament history is developed logically); of blending (King James text and rephrasing, retelling and simplifying where advisable); of sustaining the spirit of the original. The danger of antagonizing the old school is avoided by close adherence to the original; and yet no one could take exception to the omissions; the editorial judgment seems impeccable. The modernists may feel that more could have been done in the interest of clarity. But the sum total is -- in my opinion -- the best complete Bible Story that I have seen. It can be used by mothers with six and seven year olds; eight and nine year olds could readily read it for themselves.
