HIDE AND SEEK

When Penny is invited to spend a day on a farm, she visualizes an idyll of pastoral game playing. But chickens are for laying eggs, and cows are for giving milk so that before Penny knows it she is involved in a routine, not of play but of work. Penny happily survives the routine and returns home with a bright new perspective on the nature of farm life. Illustrated by Sofia, this book by the author of The Old Pony, The Happiest Day, etc. deals concretely but in an entertaining fashion with a topic of interest to young readers. A sunny and informative reading experience.
