A web of mystery encircles this novel of Supervising Nurse Mary Brennan and her junior nurses. When a young man is brought into the hospital suffering from amnesia, Mary falls in love with him. His sudden disappearance provokes a campaign on the part of the nurses to locate him. Mushrooming from their search is a counter romance involving a younger nurse who falls in love with the lawyer-detective whose help she enlists. A naively mechanical plot still manages to draw interest through the clever incorporation by Nurse Dorothy Deming of abundant detail on nursing and hospital life into what would otherwise be a routine romance.
