A straightforward documentary about one of the most important milestones in a Roman Catholic childhood. Claire Marie is one of the middle children in a large family, shown living in a comfortable suburban home with a spacious lawn and such amenities as a dining room chandelier. Member of a parochial school class making its first communion together, Claire Marie learns about the meaning of communion from parents and siblings as well as from the teacher. There are rehearsals; and when the big day comes, there's a large family celebration and presents. The photographs, like the text, show a close-knit family and innocent, unquestioning faith. A useful informational book about an event of great importance in the lives of many children.
