Wanting to make the fastest skateboard in the world, Burton sets to work learning about aerodynamics. He makes the mistake of involving a suspicious character named Professor Savvy, who wants to steal the invention and make millions. Plot twists include a last-minute school-yard showdown and a scene when the professor is humiliated by having to write--over and over at the chalkboard--""I will never, never take anyone's invention ever again."" A grand sense of humor and an intriguing array of characters make this madcap scramble as entertaining as Haas' The Secret Life of Dilly McBean (1986).
