KIRKUS REVIEW

A family story of Texas pioneering follows the fortunes of the Rollins, especially Lutie and her younger brother Will as they experience a first year of hardship as nesters' children in the panhandle. When they came from Missouri Lutie and Will were thrilled at the prospect of a new life. But its Joys soon faded as problems of housing, of a cattle rustler, and of pressure from big land owners, seem insurmountable. But at the end of the year the Rollins are on the up-grade. The rustler is caught, their house is built and the future secured. Standard brand.
