As in When the Cows Got Out, Let it Rain, and her other books, the author has concentrated upon a single event which, although minor, may still be quite significant to a child. A sister and brother climb up their first mountain and make many discoveries -- a field of flowers, a mother bird and her baby, blueberries, a waterfall, a turtle, rocks, and finally the view from the top of the peak. The bright, water-color illustrations depict the progress of the children up the mountain, which is shown in a modified oriental perspective. The simple vocabulary should make this book quite easy for the early reader to follow.
