The author of this feeble little fairy tale must have figured that since The Wind in the Willows and Alice in Wonderland were perennial favorites and imitation of the two would be twice as successful. The result is a dismal, foolish thing, with a plot too simple for six year olds and a vocabulary that would send fifteen year olds to the dictionary. Peter and Penny are led to an enchanted forest by- you guessed it?- a rabbit. They meet elves, pixies, and odd animals until dawn, when everything dutifully vanishes and they find themselves home in bed. But they know that some day the rabbit will come again. When and if he does, this reader will set a trap for him!
